London Energy Group

The London Energy Group (“LEG”)

Aims and Objectives

The LEG is a City networking group which represents professionals with an interest in the energy sector. It seeks to provide a neutral platform for the debate of topical energy related issues through seminars. The group aims to host at least four seminars a year in the City of London (Click here for Forthcoming Events)

The focus of the group is the broad spectrum of energy supply from traditional fossil fuels to alternative energy and includes nuclear energy, power generation and technology.

The Group is non-profit making and seminars are funded by sponsors. Members are asked for a nominal annual subscription fee to cover administration costs. Attendance at seminars is free to members.

Members of the LEG are drawn from:

• Institutional Investors
• The Energy Industry
• Corporate Finance
• Stockbrokers’ analysts
• Academic Community
• Energy Associations

The Group is co-ordinated by a committee who all have a strong interest in the energy sector either through fund management, research, public relations or the industry (Click here for ‘Biographies’). Buchanan Communications is responsible for the administration of the Group. (Click here for ‘Subscription Details’).

The Group encourages comments from potential and existing members on its future development and welcomes suggestions for the themes of future seminars. It is also interested in hearing from potential sponsors of future events. (Click here to contact the LEG).

History of the LEG

The London Oil Analyst Group (“LOAG”) was formed in the late 70’s as a forum for the oil and gas industry to meet City analysts. Initially this took the form of a City Lunch Club but as the membership expanded this evolved into evening seminars followed by an opportunity to network over drinks. Membership reached its peak in the late 80’s/early 90’s but then tailed off due to the consolidation of the E & P sector and the associated reduction in the size of the analyst community. Faced with the closure of the Group in 2001, the committee decided to re-launch the group extending membership to other City followers and expanding the focus of the Group. The London Energy Group was formed in September 2001 with the launch of its first seminar, The 1st Annual Alternative Energy Seminar. Since then, the Group has successfully hosted a number of successful seminars in the City.
